This article explains how to post jobs on LinkedIn using Personio. We'll cover features that are specific to posting jobs on LinkedIn.
Before you start
- To set up the features described in this article, you need permissions for your company's Recruiting settings.
- If you haven't already done so, create and publish a job.
- Review the mandatory steps for posting on external job boards.
Choose between organic reach and premium reach
You can either promote a job on LinkedIn through multiposting or free auto-posting. The reach refers to the number of clicks your job posting receives. The reach on LinkedIn varies depending on whether you use multiposting or auto-posting.
- Auto-posting provides organic reach for your job postings. These free LinkedIn posts typically receive fewer clicks because their visibility naturally decreases over time. Learn more about promoting jobs on external job boards using auto-posting.
- Multiposting offers premium reach because it's a paid feature. LinkedIn actively promotes these postings through paid campaigns to reach more users. Increasing your budget can enhance traction and visibility. Learn more about promoting jobs on external job boards using multiposting. Note that LinkedIn uses a pay-for-performance (P4P) pricing model that runs postings for 30 days. Find more information in this LinkedIn help article.
If you want to promote remote and hybrid jobs on LinkedIn, there are some extra considerations. Learn more in our dedicated article.
Understand LinkedIn posting design
Like most external job boards, LinkedIn uses a fixed posting design that you can't change. The information Personio transmits to LinkedIn is only text and logo.
The text that Personio transmits to LinkedIn comes from the job's Description tab and the About us section. You can configure this information in the career page settings via Settings > Recruiting > Career page. Learn more about which data Personio transfers to external job boards.
The About us field in the Personio settings always displays first in the posting design and appears as the company description.
Link job postings with your company's LinkedIn page
Note:
You need to enter your LinkedIn company ID when using auto-posting. Otherwise, you can't publish the posting on LinkedIn. You also need to store your recruiter’s name and corporate email address in the section LinkedIn recruiter profiles. Learn more in our frequently asked questions.
You can link job postings you create in Personio with your company's LinkedIn page. With this feature, your postings are visible to those who visit your company page. They also appear in LinkedIn's job search.
To link your postings with your company's LinkedIn profile, follow these steps:
- Get your LinkedIn Company ID.
- Go to Settings > Recruiting > Promotion.
- Enter your LinkedIn Company ID in the required field.
- Click Apply changes.
Use the LinkedIn Invited Candidates feature
LinkedIn Invited Candidates is a feature that automatically invites qualified candidates to apply for a job at your company. It invites up to 25 candidates per day for up to 14 days (up to 350 candidates total).
It sends your nominated recruiter daily candidate match email notifications, which include candidates’ names, locations, and most recent positions. Candidates can’t see the recruiter’s email address or LinkedIn user profile.
This feature helps your recruiters to:
- Identify suitable candidates who might otherwise not see your posting.
- Save time on manual outreach.

Add a recruiter profile
Tip:
Before you start, ask each internal recruiter to:
▶︎ Check the email address associated with their LinkedIn account and share it with you. The feature sends daily notifications to this email address.
▶︎ Enable email notifications in LinkedIn.
To use LinkedIn Invited Candidates, you need to add at least one recruiter profile in Personio. The recruiter is the person who takes care of recruiting at your company. If you’re this person, then you can add your own details. You can add more than one recruiter profile.
You might have already added a recruiter profile if you use LinkedIn for auto-posting. If so, you might still need to add a LinkedIn account email address (step 4 below). Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Recruiting > Promotion.
- Scroll down to the section LinkedIn recruiter profiles.
- Add the recruiter’s name. They need to have an employee profile in your Personio account. Personio automatically adds the employee’s work email address.
- Under LinkedIn account email, add the email address associated with the recruiter’s LinkedIn account. The system needs this information to send the recruiter daily email notifications about suitable candidates. This email address might be the same as the work address stored in Personio, or it might be the recruiter’s personal email address.
▶︎ Note: If you don’t add an email address here or add an incorrect one, you can still proceed with the purchase. However, it’s important to note that your recruiter won’t receive daily notifications. - Finish adding your recruiter profile.
In the LinkedIn recruiter profiles section, you can also edit a recruiter’s details, add and delete recruiters, and mark someone as the default recruiter.
Purchase the LinkedIn Invited Candidates feature
You purchase the LinkedIn Invited Candidates feature on a job level. Follow these steps:
- Go to the relevant job.
- In the Promotion tab, click Promote this job.
- Search for LinkedIn Ultimate - with Invited Candidates and select it. Note that there is also a LinkedIn Ultimate option that doesn’t include the Invited Candidates feature.
- Enter your LinkedIn company ID.
- If you haven’t already done so, add a recruiter profile in Settings. Then select the relevant recruiter and their LinkedIn account email address.
- Save.
Your recruiters can now use the feature for that job. Follow the instructions for booking an external posting.
Your selected recruiter receives daily match notification emails from the day after you place the order. Note that once your paid posting goes live, you can’t change the recruiter.
Review product limitations
- Personio doesn't currently support LinkedIn Apply.
- Personio doesn't directly support LinkedIn Recruiter, but it does support LinkedIn Job Slots. Note that if you're using LinkedIn Job Slots, you can't buy pay-for-performance postings. You can store your Job Slots as a frame contract in Personio instead.
- Personio doesn't support LinkedIn Recruiter Lite.
- The job description has a limit of 25,000 characters, including any HTML formatting. To see your job's formatting, open the code view. If there are more characters, Personio can't transmit them to LinkedIn. Learn how to solve common formatting issues in our dedicated troubleshooting article.
- LinkedIn doesn't support postings with multiple locations.
Access applications you receive from LinkedIn postings
Tip:
In your LinkedIn posting, you can see the number of applications below the job title. However, this number only represents the people who click Apply. It doesn't represent the actual number of applications.
In Personio, you can easily access applications you receive from LinkedIn postings. Go to Recruiting > Applications and filter by Channel. You can then see the list of relevant applications.
You can also measure the success of a specific recruiting channel via Recruiting > Metrics > Channels. Learn more about the Metrics tab. For example, you can check how many hires came from LinkedIn in the past year.
