This article covers common issues relating to job posting errors and formatting. These issues can affect how your job postings appear on external job boards. If you’re reading this article, you’ve already created a job in Personio and promoted it on external job boards.
This article covers the following issues:
- The formatting looks different on external job boards than in Personio
- My subcompany postings show the parent company name
Before you start
- To troubleshoot job posting issues, you need edit rights to the Recruiting app. You can also make edits if you have the correct permissions via a recruiting role. Specifically, you need permissions for the Jobs section.
- Some job boards adjust the posting's styling even if it’s a paid posting. For example, they might adjust colors and headings. Personio notifies you about this in the preview job posting screen.
- When making edits, it’s best practice to keep formatting to a minimum. This helps ensure compatibility with external job boards.
The formatting looks different on external job boards than in Personio
Issue: The formatting of your job posting looks different on external job boards than in Personio. This can happen if you copy and paste content from other sources into Personio. For example, if you copy and paste from a Word document.
Suggestion: Clear formatting in the job description and submit the changes to the job board. Follow these steps:
- Go to Recruiting > Jobs and click the relevant job's title.
- In the Description tab, click the pencil icon.
- In the Job description section, go to the affected section.
- In the text formatting toolbar, click the More text icon.
- Highlight the complete text and click the Clear formatting icon.
Tip: If you have experience with HTML, you can also address formatting issues in the code view. In the text formatting toolbar, click Code view. Check for any unexpected font types or sizes. - Format the text as needed.
- Click Publish changes, then Publish.
Next, you need to request the changes via the external job board. Follow these steps:
- Go to the Promotion tab in the job details (Recruiting > Jobs > job title).
- Click the Check availability notification.
- Click Request edits.
Processing times vary by job board and can take up to 48 hours.
Auto-posting
For auto-postings, any changes that you make to the job's data—including formatting corrections—go live automatically. As auto-posting is a free service, GoHiring isn't involved and can’t solve formatting issues.
My subcompany postings show the parent company name
Issue: Your subcompany job postings appear under the parent company's name. This is because you can’t currently promote job postings specific to a legal entity. External job boards only receive the name that you define via Settings > Company > Company name.
Suggestions:
- Promote the posting directly on the job board and then connect it with Personio via a tracking link.
- You can also reach out directly to GoHiring and request they change the company name. You need to do this within 24 hours of promoting the job. Note that this option isn’t possible for free posting or auto-postings. Nor is it possible with every job board.
