This article explains the different features that are specific to posting jobs on Indeed. You can choose to promote a job on Indeed via multiposting or via free auto-posting.
When you post a job on Indeed, it also posts automatically on Glassdoor, SimplyHired, and Resume.com
Before you start
- To set up the features described in this article, you need permissions for your company's Recruiting settings.
- If you haven't already done so, create and publish a job.
- Review the mandatory steps for posting on external job boards.
Review Indeed's quality requirements
Indeed checks every posting for quality requirements. You need to meet these requirements for Indeed to publish your posting:
- Don't repost the same job multiple times and in multiple locations. Indeed doesn't show duplicate jobs.
- Make sure the salary for a job is fair. Candidates shouldn't pay to apply, interview, or begin to work in your company.
- If you offer an internship or unpaid work experience, state this clearly in the job description. Include the type of contract in the job title.
- State if the job is offered by the hiring company or by a recruiter on the company’s behalf.
- Don't post talent pool jobs, roles that are always open ("evergreen" roles), career fairs, franchises, training opportunities, and multi-level marketing jobs. Indeed doesn't allow these postings.
Choose between organic reach and premium reach
You can either promote a job on Indeed through multiposting or free auto-posting. The reach refers to the number of clicks your job posting receives.
Promote jobs on Indeed via auto-posting
Auto-posting provides postings with organic reach. These free posts on Indeed get fewer clicks as they naturally reduce in visibility over time. Learn more about promoting jobs on external job boards using auto-posting.
Note that when you activate auto-posting with Indeed for the first time, it can take up to two weeks to verify the XML and for your postings to go online. If you need help with a specific posting, contact Indeed directly.
Promote jobs on Indeed via multiposting
Multiposting offers premium reach because it's a paid feature. Indeed promotes these postings via paid campaigns to reach more candidates. A higher budget leads to higher traction. Learn more about promoting jobs on external job boards using multiposting.
If you already have a contract in place with Indeed, you can store it as a frame contract in Personio.
The quality of your posting and its description increase its attractiveness and visibility. Read our article on how to write a good job description for best practices.
The Indeed pricing model
Indeed uses the Pay Per Click model. This means that you only pay when someone clicks on your job. You need to set a budget that is distributed equally for a duration of 30 days. A click depends on various factors, such as:
- The total number of ads with this job title or within this industry
- The location of your job
- The demand in this industry or location
Indeed uses an algorithm that shows your postings during specific time slots, when users are most active. This ensures that you don't spend your daily budget too fast.
Understand Indeed posting design
Like most external job boards, Indeed uses a fixed posting design that you can't change. The information Personio transmits to LinkedIn is only text and logo. Indeed doesn't support links, images, and videos. These elements don't appear in your posting.
Text
The text that Personio transmits to LinkedIn comes from the job's Description tab and the About us section. You can configure this information in the career page settings via Settings > Recruiting > Career page. Learn more about which data Personio transfers to external job boards. The About us field in the Personio settings always displays first in the posting design and appears as the company description.
Logo
Indeed automatically assigns your jobs to an Indeed company page that matches your company name. If you want your logo to appear with your jobs on Indeed, make sure that:
- You've claimed your Indeed company page and populated it with your company details and logo.
- You have a minimum of two reviews on your Indeed company page.
- Your company name is the same in Personio and on your Indeed company page.
If you fulfill the criteria above, Personio and Indeed automatically match. Your jobs then appear on the same page.
If a job appears with the wrong logo or under the wrong Indeed company page, contact your Indeed representative for support.
Understand Indeed Apply
Indeed Apply makes the application process easier for candidates. With this feature, they can apply for your active jobs directly from Indeed. They can also apply from their mobile devices. The feature captures the data from their Indeed resume and transfers it to Personio.
Indeed Apply is automatically active in your Personio account. It’s also active for each legal entity. Go to Settings > Recruiting > Promotion to manage these settings. Keep in mind the following:
- You have the option to share application updates with Indeed. This allows candidates to track their application status. Activate the checkbox to enable this feature.
- If you deactivate Indeed Apply, candidates go through your Personio career page instead. They also need to fill in the job application form. This is a longer process for candidates.
- If you use Indeed Apply, you automatically accept Indeed's terms and conditions and privacy policy.
Indeed Apply application process
|
With Indeed Apply: Candidates click Apply now in your Indeed job posting. The system sends their application using their Indeed resume. |
|
|
Without Indeed Apply: If you deactivate Indeed Apply, candidates can only click Apply on company site. They go to your Personio career page, where they can fill in the job's application form. |
Review product limitations
- Indeed doesn't support postings with multiple locations. You need to post each job in its individual location.
- Indeed is a job aggregator, which means the platform hosts jobs that originally appear on other online sources. If you don't want your job on Indeed, contact Indeed's customer support.
- Indeed uses an algorithm that analyzes users' behavior. If a user sees a job several times but doesn't click on it, the algorithm assumes they're not interested in this role. It stops showing the job to the user. This also applies to you as the job's author, as it doesn't distinguish between jobseekers and job authors.
Access applications you receive from Indeed
In Personio, you can easily access applications you receive from Indeed postings. Go to Recruiting > Applications and filter by Channel. You can then see the list of relevant applications.
The channels for Indeed Apply are:
- IndeedApply - Organic: Applications via Indeed Apply from auto-posting.
- IndeedApply - Sponsored: Applications via Indeed Apply from multi-postings.
You can also measure the success of a specific recruiting channel via Recruiting > Insights > Channels. For example, you can check how many hires came from Indeed in the past year. Learn more about the Insights tab.
