This article explains how to change your hostname.
Your hostname is part of your company’s Personio URL: hostname.app.personio.com. You need it to log in to Personio. If you're not sure what your hostname is, follow the steps in this article.
Before you start
- To change your hostname, contact our Support team. Only Account Owners can contact Support.
- Changing your hostname affects several areas in Personio, including employee login, Recruiting, and Personio Conversations. This means that after the change, you must update some key settings to make sure these functionalities continue to work as expected.
Choose your new hostname
Your new hostname must:
- Be between 3 and 40 characters long.
- Include your company name.
- Only contain letters (A-Z), numbers (0-9), and dashes (-).
- Not begin or end with a hyphen (-).
Update settings after the hostname change
Changing your hostname affects several areas in Personio. Update the following settings:
Employee login and authentication
- The login link for employees changes to "https://newhostname.app.personio.com".
Personio career page
When you change your hostname, the URL for your Personio career page also changes. Take the following actions:
- Update the link if your career page uses a direct link.
- Adjust the setup and links if your career page uses an iframe.
- Revise the setup if you integrate jobs with XML, as the XML Feed URL changes.
- If you use the Personio Recruiting API and your own application form, update the interface. This makes sure you continue importing candidate data via the API.
Job postings on external job boards
- Give the new application form link to job portals if you use Personio multiposting. This redirects candidates to the correct page.
- Adjust tracking links for external recruiting channels. This redirects candidates to the application form.
Email settings for candidate communication
The inbound email address for your Recruiting Inbox changes. To keep communication:
- Adjust settings if you use email redirection.
- Ask your IT department to review and update the SMTP server settings.
Update Personio Conversations
Personio Conversations doesn't update automatically when you change your hostname. You need to:
- Update your team email addresses in Personio Conversations.
- Update your email forwarding to the new team email address. This makes sure you receive new employee requests. Existing requests to the old email addresses still work.
