Before you start
To troubleshoot most of the issues in this article, you need permissions for your company’s Recruiting settings.
If you’ve connected your company's career page with Personio, it's useful to check which option you’re using. You’ll need support from your IT team to troubleshoot connection issues.
I can’t see a job on the career page
Issue: You create a job in Personio, but it doesn’t appear on the career page.
Suggestion: To appear on the career page, your jobs need to be in Published status in Personio.
- Go to Recruiting > Jobs to check the job’s current status.
- If the job is in Draft status, publish it.
Note: The job needs an opening for you to publish it. To add an opening, go to the Overview tab of the job details and click the pencil icon. In some cases, when you move a candidate to the Hired stage, the job can revert to Draft status. This means the job no longer appears on the career page, and you need to add an opening. - Wait five minutes and check if your job appears on the career page.
I can see a job on the Personio career page, but not on my corporate career page
Issue: The job appears on your Personio career page but not on your company's career page.
Suggestion: If you're using your own corporate career page via XML integration, the issue may be with how your IT team has implemented the XML feed. Ask your IT team to check the integration of the XML feed. They can check via this link: youraccount.jobs.personio.com/xml. All form items and a practical example of how to set up the XML integration are available in this Developer Hub article.
A job has disappeared from the career page
Issue: A job that was previously visible on your career page has disappeared.
Suggestion: It might be that the job no longer has an opening in Personio. If this is the case, the job no longer appears on the career page. This can sometimes happen when you move a candidate to the Hired recruiting stage. During this process, Personio gives you some options regarding the job opening. Depending on which option you choose, there are a number of different scenarios. Some of these scenarios result in the job no longer appearing online.
Follow these steps:
- Go to Recruiting > Jobs.
- Click the title of the job, then go to the Overview tab.
- Under Openings, check that there is an opening with an Open status. If not, you need to add an opening.
- To add an opening, click the pencil icon. Add details for the opening.
- Publish your changes.
Open and refresh your career page to check if the job appears.
The career page shows a 404 error
Issue: Your career page shows a 404 error, and you can’t access it.
Suggestion: This might be the result of a connectivity issue. We recommend temporarily disabling and re-enabling the Personio career page.
- Go to Settings > Recruiting > Career page.
- If you have different legal entities, select the relevant company from the dropdown at the top-left.
- Disable the Personio career page and apply your changes.
- Wait around five seconds and re-enable it.
- Apply your changes.
After five minutes, you should be able to access your career page again. If the issue persists, contact Support.
Notes:
▶︎ It’s important to re-enable the career page—if you don’t, it can affect your running postings.
▶︎ If you previously activated auto-posting for your jobs, you need to reactivate it.
A job on the career page contains demo data
Issue: Demo data appears in your job posting instead of your actual company information.
Suggestion: There might be demo data in the English versions of the career page settings. In particular, in the About us and Descriptions and translations sections.
Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Recruiting > Career page.
- If you have different legal entities, select the relevant company from the dropdown at the top-left.
- In the sections About us and Descriptions and translations, select English from the dropdown.
- If you find demo data, delete it. Add your own information if you want to have English translations for your career page.
- Apply your changes.
After five minutes, check the job on your career page to see if the demo data is gone.
Note:
To activate a language on your career page, you need to fill out all required fields. Therefore, if you want your career page available in English, you need to replace any deleted demo data with suitable content.
I can see legal entity postings on the parent Personio career page
Issue: Your legal entity job postings are appearing on your main Personio career page.
Suggestion: If you don’t want to show legal entity jobs on your main Personio career page, you can disable it.
Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Recruiting > Career page.
- Select the relevant subcompany from the dropdown.
- Disable the option to show jobs on the parent career page. Note that this also deactivates auto-posting.
- Apply your changes.
I can see legal entity postings on the parent company career page (using XML feed)
Issue: When you enable the XML feed, it pulls all published job data from your Personio career pages into your company's career page. This includes data from legal entity career pages. There is no separate XML feed for legal entities. Therefore, legal entity job postings appear on the parent company's career page.
Suggestion: Your internal IT team is responsible for setting up the XML job integration between Personio and your company career page. They also manage your company's career page—Personio has no control over this. Your IT team can access the XML feed via youraccount.jobs.personio.com/xml. The XML feed contains all information and metadata for your positions. Your IT team decides on where and how to display this information on your company's career page. For example, they can filter for the tag subcompany in the XML feed and decide which subcompany to display on your career page. Your IT team can find all necessary information in our Developer Hub.
