This article explains how to download and use the Personio mobile app. You can use the app on your iOS or Android smartphone. With the mobile app, you can manage time off, track working hours, and request time off from your phone.
Access the Personio mobile app
To access the Personio mobile app, you need to download it and log in with your credentials. Use the links below to download the app for free:
To log in to the mobile app:
- Enter your company hostname. This is the same address you use to access Personio with a browser.
- Enter your login credentials. Use your Personio account email and password. If your company has enabled Google SSO, use those login details instead.
- Enter the code from your mobile device if your company uses two-factor authentication.
- Complete any extra security features, such as face or fingerprint authentication.
Note:
If you close the Personio mobile app, you need to log in again using your PIN or biometrics.
Home screen
The mobile app home screen has the following widgets that you can see based on your permissions.

| Announcements | View company announcements on your home screen. Tap an announcement to read the full details. Tap View all to see all available announcements. |
| Time Off | A summary of your upcoming time off and its approval status. Select a time off to view more details. You can also request time off from this widget. |
| Who's Out Today | See the names of colleagues who are absent today and their expected return dates. Filter by team, department, or direct reports. Tap View all to open the full list. |
| Time Tracking | Track your working hours. Once you stop time tracking, an attendance entry appears in the calendar. You can edit the entry to add your assigned projects or subprojects. |
| Documents | View, download, and upload your files. Tap a document to open it and save it to your device. Tap Upload to add a new document. Use the filter in the widget to sort through document categories. The app remembers your filter settings after you close and reopen it. Select View all to explore a folder structure and search for your documents. |
Calendar
Tap the calendar icon in the navigation bar to manage your time off and attendances. You can view your history, edit entries depending on your permissions, and check balances. Tap the Balances tab for an overview of your time off types and balances. You can also view your overtime balance here.
Request a time off
To request time off with the mobile app:
- Go to the home screen.
- Select Request time off.
- Select the time off type. If the time off type requires a certificate, you can upload it as a photo with your request.
- Fill out the time off details and request your time off.
To edit a time off, select it and make the changes you need.
Track your time
If you are an employee with time tracking enabled, you can track your working hours using the mobile app:
- Select the calendar icon in the navigation bar.
- Tap the + icon.
- Fill out the attendance details.
To edit an attendance, select it in the calendar and make the necessary changes.
Clock in and out using the Time Tracking widget
- You can use the Time Tracking widget on the home screen to start, pause, and stop time tracking.
- After you stop tracking, an attendance entry appears in the calendar, which you can edit or delete.
- You can start and stop time tracking on both the mobile app and desktop, and they stay synchronized.
- Your organization might have enabled location tracking.
Note:
To approve other employees' working hours, you need to use the Personio desktop app.
Add a project or subproject to an attendance
To add a project or subproject to an attendance with the mobile app:
- Tap the calendar icon in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap the + icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap Add Attendance from the menu.
- Optional: add comments.
- Enter your working hours.
- Pick a project or subproject for the time entry. You can only see projects and subprojects assigned to you.
Inbox
Your Inbox is available on the mobile app. View and manage the same notifications and tasks you see on the desktop version. Items you dismiss or complete sync between both versions. Some tasks work differently on mobile than on desktop. For complex tasks, you see a recommendation to use the desktop version for the best experience. If you want to continue on your mobile device, the app opens the task in your mobile browser outside the app.
Push notifications
You can receive push notifications for time off approvals. The app asks you to turn on notifications the first time you open it. You can change this in your device settings or in the app under Settings > Notifications.
People
Tap the people icon in the navigation bar to search for colleagues and view their profiles. The app organizes all personal information into tabs. Scroll through the tabs at the top of the profile to access different sections. You can see all fields, even if some are empty. The information you see depends on your permissions.
Profile
Tap your profile picture in the navigation bar to open your profile and access app settings. The app organizes your personal information into tabs like other employee profiles. Scroll through the tabs to view different sections. Your preferred name appears in the header when viewing your profile. You can't edit your profile information in the app. Use the web version to make updates.
Documents
You can upload documents to your own profile. The app supports the same file formats as the desktop version. The maximum file size is 10 MB.
To upload a document:
- On the Home screen, tap Upload in the Documents widget.
- Choose how to upload:
- Choose Files: Select a file from your device storage.
- Photo Library: Select an existing photo from your device.
- Camera: Take a new photo.
- Scan Document: Use your camera to scan a document.
- Enter a name for the document.
- Choose a category.
- Select a date.
- Tap Upload.
