This article explains how to tailor what your employees see in their individual Personio accounts through both the company and customization settings. This includes basic details like the company name and default language, along with the main themes, colors, and homepage for the account.
Access the company and customization settings
To access the company settings, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- In the Account & support section, click Company defaults.

You need to have the Administrator role to see both settings.
Understand the Company settings
The Company settings let you set the basic company details your employees see in their Personio accounts, such as your company’s name and logo.

| Company name | Enter your company name. Your employees see the company name in the top-left corner of their Personio account and in the sender address of recruiting emails if they have access to the Recruiting app. |
| Legal entities enabled |
Decide if you want to enable legal entities to mirror your organizational structure. Enabling them allows you to:

| Email notifications | Decide if you want to enable email notifications for employees. When enabled, employees can select which events, like approvals or reminders, receive email notifications. Disabling this option stops all email notifications from Personio for the company. |
| Language preference |
Select the default language for the company's Personio account (example: English). Employees will see this language when first invited to Personio. You can change the language later from the default language to a different one (example: Spanish), but you'll need to add translations for all sections and attributes. Available default languages:
Employees can change their personal language settings for their Personio account:

| Default currency | Select the currency for your company's Personio account. If you use different currencies, select one for each workplace. You can see currency information in the salary details of each employee's profile. |
| Industry | Enter the industry your company works in within this section. This is important for job portals in the Recruiting app. |
| Timezone | Select a timezone for your company. If you use many, choose one for each workplace. Time zones are important for import processes and sending email reminders from Personio. |
| Public holidays | Select a public holiday calendar from Personio or create your own. If your workplaces have different holidays, store the national calendar here and set up individual calendars for each workplace. |
| Logo | Upload your company logo. Employees see it in the top left of their Personio account and in emails for notifications like approvals and reminders. |
Understand the Customization settings
The Customization settings are split into two:
- The Appearance settings allow you to fully personalize the appearance of your employees' Personio accounts to match your brand.
- The Home settings let you customize your employees’ Personio homepage.
The Appearance settings
