This article explains how to post jobs on Stepstone using Personio. You post jobs on Stepstone via our multiposting feature.
Before you start
- If you haven't already done so, create and publish a job. You can then promote the job on Stepstone. To do so, you need edit permissions for the Recruiting app.
- Stepstone reviews each posting before publishing it. Review the quality standards below to avoid rejection.
Understand Stepstone quality standards
Stepstone reviews each posting before publishing it. If your posting doesn't meet their quality standards, they reject it. If Stepstone has already published your posting and you later fail to meet the standards, they cancel it and take it offline. Learn more about Stepstone's quality standards. You need to meet these quality standards:
- Include a company description (mandatory). Personio takes this information from the About us section.
- Make job titles specific. Stepstone requires job titles that describe the specific person you're looking for, not just a generic job category. Add details about the industry, technology, specialization, or seniority level. Here are some examples:
- Instead of "Quality Engineer," use "Quality Engineer specializing in automotive process technology".
- Instead of "Marketing Manager," use "Marketing Manager for digital campaigns in the healthcare sector".
- Instead of "Software Developer," use "Software Developer for cloud-based SaaS applications".
- Instead of "Sales Representative," use "Sales Representative for B2B enterprise software solutions".
- Write detailed job descriptions. Provide comprehensive information, especially in the “Tasks” section.
- Don't use links in the job description fields. This includes links to Kununu, LinkedIn, company websites, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
- Don't write job titles in all capitalized letters.
Understand Stepstone's posting design
Stepstone uses a template called Liquid Design. This template divides each posting into a series of sections. Each section matches a field from the job's Description in Personio. The table below shows which Stepstone section matches which Personio job description section.
| Section in Stepstone | Field in Personio |
|---|---|
| Job title | Job description > Job name |
| Company description (Introduction) | Settings > Recruiting > Career page > About us |
| Tasks | Job description > Your mission |
| Profile | Job description > Your profile |
| What we offer | Job description > Why us? |
| Further information | Settings > Recruiting > Job descriptions > Contact information |
Keep in mind:
- Stepstone doesn’t support custom section headings, section heading font colors, and background colors. All section headings are fixed, and Stepstone automatically applies the standard font and colors. However, you can still apply custom background images (see section below).
- Links within the "Further information" section are clickable. Stepstone displays links in the other sections, but they’re not clickable.
- You can’t customize the privacy policy. If you want to provide your own privacy policy, you can add it in the "Further information" section.
Review product limitations
When posting jobs on Stepstone via Personio, note the following limitations:
- Personio doesn't support Stepstone for free.
- The preview of a posting doesn't appear the same as it does on Stepstone.
- Personio doesn't yet support remote jobs or jobs with several workplaces. For these use cases, refer to the section below.
Use the Stepstone Connect feature
The Stepstone Connect feature makes the application process easier for candidates. It captures candidate data and transfers it to Personio. Candidates aren't redirected to a career page and can apply directly on Stepstone from their mobile devices. This only works for candidates with a Stepstone profile.
Personio automatically activates Stepstone Connect in your account. If you want to deactivate it, go to Settings, then Recruiting > Promotion > Job board integration and deactivate the checkbox next to Stepstone.
Identify if a candidate used Stepstone Connect to apply for a job
To find out if a candidate used Stepstone Connect to apply for a job, go to the candidate's Profile tab. Under Candidate information, check the Channel.
- Stepstone DE: The candidate applied without using Stepstone Connect.
- Stepstone DE Connect: The candidate applied with Stepstone Connect.
Promote remote jobs and jobs with multiple locations
If you want to promote a job that allows remote work or has multiple locations, clearly state this in your posting. This helps Stepstone make the necessary adjustments.
- Multiple locations: When creating or editing your job, you need to choose a main location. You can also use the Other locations dropdown menu and select more. Stepstone supports up to ten locations.
- Remote jobs: Learn how to promote remote and hybrid jobs.
