This article explains how to integrate Personio Conversations with Slack and Microsoft Teams. Such integrations make it easier to create requests in Conversations.
Notes
▶ If you have an active integration between Personio and Slack, you still need to set up the integration between Conversations and Slack.
▶ When you set up Slack or Microsoft Teams, all existing contacts get transferred to Personio Conversations, including contacts outside your organization. However, no email or notification will be sent to them, except if an approval is requested.
Integrate Personio Conversations with Slack
The procedure to set up the integration between Conversations and Slack varies whether you have administrator access to your company's Slack workspace or not.
Scenario 1: You are an administrator in your company’s Slack workspace
To set up the Slack integration, follow these steps:
- Click Conversations in the main navigation bar in Personio.
- Go to Settings > Organization > Integrations.
- Navigate to the right of the Slack integration and click Connect.
- In the pop-up requesting permissions to access window, click Allow.
Scenario 2: You are not an administrator in your company’s Slack workspace
To set up the Slack integration, follow these steps:
- Click Conversations in the main navigation bar in Personio.
- Go to Settings > Organization > Integrations.
- Navigate to the right of the Slack integration and click Connect.
- In the pop-up requesting permissions to access window, select Send a request to the App Managers.
- Once the request is approved, repeat steps 1–3 above.
Integrate Personio Conversations with Microsoft Teams
You will need to be a Microsoft Teams administrator at your company to set up this integration. You should only add Conversations to the teams where you want it to be available in that team's channels, for example, your "HR Help" or "Workplace Help" channels.
There are two parts to the integration process:
- Installing the Personio Conversations app in your Microsoft Teams account
- Linking Conversations to a team in Microsoft Teams
Install the Personio Conversations app in your Microsoft Teams account
Notes
▶︎ Personio Conversations is in the process of being listed as an official application in Microsoft Teams. In the meantime, you can install the application manually to make it available to your employees.
▶︎ The installation process only needs to be completed once by you or someone else who is a Microsoft Teams administrator at your company.
To install the Personio Conversations app in your Microsoft Teams account, follow these steps:
- Go to Microsoft Teams Admin > Apps > Manage your apps.
- Click on Upload an app.
- Select Upload an app to your org’s app catalog from the pop-up window.
- Upload the Personio Conversations zip file that is attached to this article. Once uploaded, it will be visible in the Built for your org section.
Tip
Microsoft Teams administrators can force installation of the Conversations app to all user accounts, and even pin it to the sidebar – this will make it easily accessible to all employees.
Link Conversations to a team in Microsoft Teams
To link Conversations to a team in Microsoft Teams, follow the steps below:
- Go to Microsoft Teams Admin > Teams Apps > Built for your org.
- Click on the Personio Conversations app that you installed earlier.
- In the pop-up window that appears, click Add.
- In your Microsoft Teams workspace, click on Conversations.
- Navigate to the Chat tab, and in the chat bar enter the command: <link> plus <your company name as it appears in the address bar in Personio>. For example: link acme-corp
- In the reply box that appears, click on the button Link this team to Conversations.
The team is now linked to Conversations. As with the installation step, this process only needs to be completed once.
