Learn to nominate employees to provide feedback for peer and upward reviews in performance review cycles.
Before you start
Peer reviews
Once you add peer reviews to a cycle, and the activity starts, you can nominate employees to provide these reviews.
To nominate employees for peer reviews, you need to be:
- An Administrator, or an employee with edit rights for cycles. In this case, you can nominate employees in all cycles.
- A supervisor. In this case you can nominate employees in the cycles that involve your team members.
Upward reviews
When adding upward reviews to a cycle, you have to options:
- Personio assigns the reviews automatically to all employees in the cycle who have a supervisor.
- Enable the supervisor's supervisor to nominate the relevant employees manually.
To nominate employees for upward reviews, you need to be:
- An Administrator, or an employee with edit rights for cycles. In this case, you can nominate employees in all cycles.
- The supervisor's supervisor for the relevant cycle participant.
To follow the instructions below for upward reviews, you need to enable the manual nomination.
Nominate feedback providers for peer reviews
Option 1: Review participants’ nominations
You can enable cycle participants to nominate their peer reviewers, with the manager’s approval. If this option is active, you need to approve or reject the nominations proposed by your direct reports.
To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to Performance > Review cycles.
- Click the relevant cycle.
- The cycle overview page opens. Under Peer review, click the relevant review request.
- Approve or reject the nomination.
Option 2: Nominate feedback providers directly
If you enabled direct peer review nominations from the supervisor, you need to assign peer reviewers for your direct reports in the cycle:
- Go to Performance > Cycles.
- Click the relevant cycle.
- The cycle overview page opens. Check the Peer reviews column. Click Add next to a participant who does not have a reviewer yet.
- Select the reviewer.
- Repeat these steps as needed.
You can also nominate peer reviewers from the manager review page:
- On the left side bar, click Performance.
- If you have already started a draft, you can find it under Unfinished feedback. Otherwise, click Tasks.
- Click the relevant manager review task.
- The manager review page opens. On the right hand side, click the plus icon next to either Peer review or Upward review. Select the relevant employees.
- Send the request.
The selected reviewers will receive their review tasks under Performance > Tasks.
Nominate feedback providers for upward reviews
To nominate employees to provide upward reviews for their manager, follow these steps:
- Go to Performance > Cycles.
- Click the relevant cycle.
- The cycle overview page opens. Check the Peer reviews or the Upward reviews column. Click Add next to a participant who does not have a reviewer yet.
- Select the reviewer.
- Repeat these steps as needed.
You can also nominate employees from the manager review page:
- On the left side bar, click Performance.
- If you have already started a draft, you can find it under Unfinished feedback. Otherwise, click Tasks.
- Click the relevant manager review task.
- The manager review page opens. On the right hand side, click the plus icon next to either Peer review or Upward review. Select the relevant employees.
- Send the request.
