This article explains how to create custom recruiting stages. Recruiting stages reflect the steps a candidate goes through in your recruiting process. Refer to our summary of recruiting stages for an overview of this concept.
In Personio, there is an existing set of system stages. These are predefined, and you can’t edit them. Therefore, it may be useful to create additional custom stages to reflect specific steps in your recruiting process.
Before you start
To create custom recruiting stages, you need permissions for your company's Recruiting settings.

To create a custom recruiting stage, follow these steps:
- In Settings, go to Recruiting > Stages.

- Name the stage.
- Select the stage type. Learn more about stage types.

▶︎ Unlimited: There is no limit on the number of days candidates can remain in this stage.
▶︎ Limited: You must specify the maximum number of days a candidate can stay in this stage. - Select a color for the stage.
- Create the stage.
Edit or delete a recruiting stage
Note:
If you delete a stage with candidates assigned, they are sent to the Unassigned system stage.
