Setting Up Maternity Protection

 

 

Personio automatically calculates the legally required maternity protection period if you enter an expected date of birth for an employee’s baby.

 

Setting Up Maternity Protection

Click on the Personal info tab in the employee’s profile, then on Edit in the HR Information section and finally on Add child.

This opens a new window. Enter the baby’s name and sex (if known) and the birth date as calculated by the physician. Next, tick the checkbox for activating the automatic calculation of the maternity protection period.

If it is already known that the employee has a multiple pregnancy, also tick the relevant checkbox to automatically extend the maternity protection period. Next, select the absence calendar which you would like to add the resulting maternity protection period to, and confirm your entry.

If you have not yet created a maternity protection absence type, you can do this in the account configuration. Click here for further information.

As the actual date of birth usually differs from the previously calculated date, you will often need to edit this date later.

 

Managing Maternity Protection

Managing maternity protection is as easy as configuring this setting. Instead of clicking on the Add child option, simply edit the existing entry by clicking on the pencil icon next to the previously entered date of birth.

Enter the actual date of birth and check the Multiple birth and/or Early birth options, if applicable, to have the maternity protection period automatically adjusted according to legal requirements.
