This article explains how to link existing Remote employee profiles to Personio. This is only necessary if you were using Remote before activating the Personio EOR integration and already have employee profiles in both systems that aren't linked. This happens when the email address in an existing Personio profile matches the one in Remote. In this scenario, Personio cannot create a duplicate profile, so the two remain separate.

Before you start

• You need to be the EOR Company Manager to add and manage EOR employees. The Personio Administrator who activates Personio EOR becomes the EOR Company Manager.

Map your EOR profiles

Step 1: Make sure the EOR employee is active.

To link profiles, the employee's status in Personio needs to be Active. To check their status:

1. Go to Employer of Record in the main Personio menu.
2. Check that the Remote status column shows Active.

Step 2: Review the attributes in Remote

Before mapping profiles, check the following attributes in Remote:

• Work email: if this is empty in Remote, Personio uses the value in the "Personal email" attribute from Remote.
• Preferred name: if this is empty in Remote, Personio uses the first name for the "Preferred name".
• Seniority date: if this attribute is empty in Remote, Personio syncs the employee's start date from Remote and uses it as the hire date in Personio. If the seniority date is filled in Remote, Personio uses that as the hire date instead.

To review the attributes in Remote:

1. Go to Employer of Record in the main Personio menu.
2. In the Action column, click View in Remote to take you to the employee's Remote profile. 
3. In Remote, review the attributes in the "Personal details" and "Job" tabs.

Step 3: Copy the Remote ID from Personio

1. In Personio, go to Employer of Record in the main menu.
2. Copy the employee's Remote ID.

Step 4: Connect the profiles

1. Go to the employee's EOR profile in Personio.
2. Click Edit.
3. In the EOR section, enter the Remote ID into the Employment ID field.
4. Set the Role (Remote.com) to Employee. 
5. Save your changes.

After you complete the mapping, the employee profile shows the EOR banner, confirming the profiles are linked and data has synced from Remote to Personio.
