We are updating our Help Center articles to reflect changes to Personio that improve the user experience. As these changes will be released gradually, you may notice differences between the article content and your Personio application during this update process.
This article explains how to create, manage, and assign application tags. In the Application List, you can filter by tags for greater insights into your recruiting process.
What are application tags?
Application tags are labels that you can attach to your candidate applications. These help you to easily identify and organize your applications. You can use keywords or short phrases when naming your tags, for example, “High potential” or “Former intern”.
When you add a tag to an application, it appears under the header of the candidate profile. You can also view the tag in the Application List (if you have the Tags column selected).
Create a new application tag
You can create application tags in two ways:
- From within the candidate profile.
- From within the Settings.
Add an application tag to a candidate's profile
To add a tag to a candidate’s profile, follow these steps:
- Go to Recruiting > Applications.
- Click on the candidate’s name. This opens their profile in a side drawer.
- Click the Add tag button in the profile header. You can:
▶︎ Select an existing tag or tags from the drop-down list.
▶︎ Create a new tag.
Tips
▶︎ When you create a tag within the candidate profile, it is stored globally in the Settings. You can therefore use it again in other candidate profiles.
▶︎ To remove a tag from a candidate’s profile, click the x in the tag button.
Manage application tags
In the Settings, you can perform the tasks outlined in the table below. You can access application tags in Settings via Recruiting > Tags.
Task | Details |
View all existing tags | You can view a list of all your existing application tags in the left sidebar. |
Add a new tag | Click the Add a new tag button at the top of the left sidebar. Choose a name, for example, "High potential". Choose a tag color. |
Edit a tag | Click on the tag in the left sidebar. You can change the name and the color of the tag. |
Delete a tag | Click on the tag in the left sidebar. Click the bin icon. When you delete a tag in the Settings, it is also removed from candidates’ applications where it is in use. |
Filter by tags
The Filter functionality in the Application List allows you to quickly identify a selection of candidates. For example, if you create a tag named "High Potential" and filter by this value, then you can readily visualize all applications that have high potential.
To filter by tags, follow these steps:
- Go to Recruiting > Applications.
- Click the Filter tab and select Tags.
- Define your rule set. You can add multiple rules to narrow down the information shown.
You now have an overview of all tagged candidates.
