What’s changing with the cycle creation flow?
We’ve redesigned how you create and manage review cycles. The new flow organizes configurations into clear, themed steps — Participants, Setup, Timeline, and Summary — so you always know where you are and what’s next.
Key improvements include:
- Step-by-step guidance with contextual tips and best practices
- Auto-save so you never lose progress
- Preview your full cycle setup before launching
- The same streamlined flow for both creating new cycles and editing existing ones
- Default settings for common scenarios to speed up setup
- Transparency into cycle configurations, regardless of who created them
Why are these changes being made?
This update is based on direct customer feedback. We heard that cycle configuration could feel overwhelming, and that mis-configurations often led to post-launch edits.
The redesigned flow:
- Reduces confusion by showing only relevant options at each step
- Provides guidance to help you get configurations right the first time
- Scales to support upcoming features like Peer Nominations and Approvals and Calibrations
How will this impact my current or live cycles?
Your existing cycles — including any currently live — will continue to run exactly as configured. This is a UI change only; there are no migrations or data changes.
Once you're on the new experience, you’ll use the updated flow to edit live cycles, with clear visibility into what each change means for your organization.
Will any of my existing data or settings be affected?
No. All your existing cycle configurations, reviews, feedback, and settings remain intact. The new flow simply presents them in a clearer, more organized way.
Will I lose access to any functionality?
No. All existing features and configuration options remain available. The update focuses on improving how you access and configure them — nothing is removed.
When will I get access to the new flow?
The new cycle creation flow is rolling out in phases:
- Opt-in Beta (starting March 2): Enable the new experience via a toggle in your account settings. Try it out and switch back anytime.
- General Availability (March 31): The new flow becomes the default for all customers. The toggle will be removed. New configurations for peer reviews and staged visibility will be added.
You’ll be notified via an in-app banner before each phase.
Can I try the new experience before it’s mandatory?
Yes. During the Opt-in Beta period (March 2 – March 31), account owners can enable the new flow via a toggle. This lets you explore the changes, test cycle creation, and provide feedback before GA.
Can I switch back to the old experience?
- During the Opt-in Beta: Yes. You can disable the new experience anytime via the toggle.
- After General Availability (March 31): No. The new flow will be the only experience and the toggle will be removed. We recommend using the beta period to familiarize yourself and your team with the changes.
What new features come with this update?
After General Availability, the new flow also unlocks:
- Peer Nominations by Employees: Employees can nominate their own peer reviewers, with manager approval workflows.
- Staged Review Visibility for Managers: Hide peer, upward, and self-reviews from managers until they submit their own review — ensuring more objective manager assessments.
What should I do if I encounter issues?
- During Opt-in Beta: You can switch back to the previous experience via the toggle while we investigate.
- For any issues, Account Owners can contact Support. Include details about the step where you encountered the problem.
Will there be any downtime during the rollout?
No. The rollout happens seamlessly in the background. There’s no downtime or interruption to your existing cycles or workflows.
What if I have a live cycle running when the release happens?
Your live cycle will continue running without interruption. When you next edit that cycle, you’ll use the new flow — with clear guidance on what each change means for participants.
