This article explains how to edit or delete a type of time off in Personio, and how to edit who can view or request each type. If you haven’t set up time off types, see our dedicated article.
Before you start
- To edit or delete a type of time off, you need permissions to Account configuration > Time off.
- If you’re using Personio Payroll, you can’t change the category of an existing type of time off.
Edit a type of time off
Note:
The time off category and the “Reduce target hours and count any time tracked as overtime during time off?” setting can affect your employees’ overtime balance and salary. Pay special attention when you edit these settings.
This is helpful if you want to change the time off type name or the color associated with it in the Time Off calendar. To edit a type of time off:
- Go to Settings.
- In the Time off & attendance section, click Time off.
- On the left, find and click the type of time off you want to edit.
- In the top-right corner, click the pencil icon.
- Edit the relevant settings and save the changes.
- Employees with access to the time off see the changes immediately.
Edit employees' permissions to a type of time off
This is helpful if you don’t want your employees to see or request a type of time off anymore. If your employees can’t see or request a type of time off, follow the instructions in our dedicated article instead.
To edit the permission for a specific type of time off:
- Go to Settings.
- In the Organization section, click Roles & permissions.
- Click the employee role assigned to the relevant employees, then Permissions.
- Scroll down and click Time off.
- Locate the type of time off type you want to edit permissions for.
- If you want your employees to see the time off type, but not request it, select Own under See.
- If you don’t want your employees to see the time off type at all, clear every option.
- Review the changes and save.
Delete a type of time off
Note:
When you delete a type of time off, you also delete all its time off policies and its respective time-off periods, approval history, and employee balances. This is irreversible.
To delete a type of time off:
- Go to Settings.
- In the Time off & attendance section, click Time off.
- On the left, find and click the type of time off you want to delete.
- In the top-right corner, click the bin icon.
- Type the security key you see on screen.
- Confirm the deletion.
