Note

Overview
What is ADDISON Lohn und Gehalt?
ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt (by Wolters Kluwer) is a software solution for payroll, accounting, and tax management in Germany. It offers tools for efficient payroll processing. This includes salary calculations, tax compliance, and automated reporting. The software integrates various HR and financial systems to provide:
- seamless data flow
- reduced administrative tasks
- improved compliance to German labour and tax regulations
What is the benefit of this Integration?
Integrating Personio and your payroll provider's system offers HR teams and payroll managers substantial benefits by streamlining the data management process. Customers must no longer enter data twice. Once information is input in Personio, it can be conveniently exported to match your payroll system. This synchronization keeps employee records consistently up-to-date, reducing the risk of discrepancies. Moreover, the potential for manual errors is drastically minimized. This leads to a remarkable reduction in the manual work required for payroll processing.
What is the scope of the Integration?
- Export file: Personio generates an export file that is specially formatted for import into ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt. This prevents the need for manual adjustments.
- Employee data: The ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt export file includes employee data. For a complete list of included attributes, see table in the section Attribute set.
- Data validations: Attributes are validated and validation errors are shown in the employee profile and the preliminary payroll.
- The integration simplifies hiring and leaving, as well as updating employee master data.
Note
To guarantee the functionality of the import, do not make any changes to the import file.
Prerequisites to use the Integration
- Ensure you have at least one legal entity set up in the system.
- At least one of your legal entities must be located in Germany.
- You must not use the DATEV Integration with this setup.
- Operate on a monthly payroll cycle, running from the 1st to the last day of each month.
Set up
Note
The Integration is only compatible with ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt and not with ADDISON SBS Lohn. Before requesting the integration, confirm that you are using ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt.
Step 1: Activation of the import function in ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt
Before you get started with the setup, the import function must be activated for your ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt. Your tax office needs to contact their ADDISON support team to request activation. This step is mandatory in order to be able to use the integration.
Step 2: Prepare your account & complete attributes
To book the ADDISON Integration directly in Personio via the Marketplace, follow these steps:
- Go to Marketplace in the navigation bar.
- Search for ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt.
- Click Book Integration.
In order to successfully transfer data between Personio and ADDISON, our Customer Operations team checks the settings of your attributes. They check if the required attributes have been created and are in the correct format.
This may result in changes to your account. Existing attributes with the correct format are linked directly. Missing attributes that are transferred to ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt with the export are added in the new ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt section in the employee profile. This section is initially only visible to admins.
Step 3: Configure the Integration
To activate the integration, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Payroll > Addison Lohn & Gehalt.
- Select the relevant legal entity.
- Enter the ADDISON account number (Mandantennummer).
- Activate the toggle.
- Click Save.
- Repeat this step for any additional legal entities.
Note
You will receive the ADDISON account number (ADDISON Mandantennummer) from your tax office or your payroll responsible person. This can be found in the ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt application in the client environment at the top left of the title bar.
Step 4: Complete the attributes
You must complete the attributes before using the integration. You have two options to complete any new attributes added to your account:
- Manually complete all attributes.
- Complete all attributes using the import template on the right side of this page. Refer to our article on Import Employee Data (Implementation) to learn more.
When filling in attributes, you should also define which employees to include in the sync. This is further explained in the following section.
Define which employees to consider in the sync
When filling in values, two attributes require special attention, as they define if an employee should be considered in the sync and under which identifier:
- Consider in German Payroll: Set this attribute to Yes for all employees whose data must be transferred with the integration. Set it to No for any employees to exclude from the sync.
- ADDISON Employee Number: This serves as a unique identifier between the two systems and ensures the correct matching of employee data during the sync.
Note
▶ ︎Empty attributes don’t overwrite fields in ADDISON.
▶ ︎If you are rehiring former employees, you can use the rehire feature, transferring all employee data from the inactive employee profile to the new one. For detailed guidance, refer to our Helpcenter article on rehiring former employees. Once you select the option Copy all other attributes from the previous profile, Personio automatically copies the custom attribute values and sets the Personio attribute Consider in German Payroll in the old profile to No. This adjustment allows you to reuse the same Addison Personalnummer without duplication errors. We recommend your payroll admin or ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt admin to review the new profile to confirm whether the previous ADDISON Personalnummer should be reused.
Step 5: Complete the setup and start your transfer
To generate an ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt export for a given payroll month, follow these steps:
- Go to Payroll in the navigation bar and select the relevant legal entity/payroll group.
- Click Generate export > ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt > Personal Info to generate an export file
- In the Documents tab, you can download the export file.
- Send the export file to your payroll processing person or tax advisor.
- Your payroll processing person or tax advisor can simply import the file to ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt.
Note
Employees who are highlighted in red in the preliminary payroll table either have validation errors for relevant payroll information, thus, they are not included in the Export and not send to ADDISON. It is necessary to fix the validation errors before the export to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Access rights
- To perform an ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt export, the respective role requires edit access for payroll to the legal entity for which they want to perform the export.
- To configure settings for the ADDISON Lohn & Gehalt export, the respective role requires the payroll settings access right.
