Learn who in your company can manage and/or view the compensation cycles, how to configure the different permissions and the possibilities of each role.
Cycle Viewer and Cycle Manager are two additional roles within the Compensation Management system to streamline the management of compensation cycles and ensure data privacy and security.
Compensation Administrator
A Compensation Admin can set up and run a compensation cycle. A Cycle admin can:
- Create, edit, and delete a cycle in the draft state
- Grant and revoke Cycle Manager and Cycle Viewer access
- Close, complete, and archive cycles and update salaries
- View generated reward letters if view rights to the relevant document category are given.
- Edit the effective date for an entire cycle or individual employees via the Worksheet or People list.
To access the Compensation area and manage a Compensation Review Cycle, you must have the necessary permissions.
To set this up:
- Go to Settings.
- In the Organization section, click Roles & permissions.
- Click the relevant role.
- Click Permissions.
- Click Compensation Management.
- Next to the Edit column, select All.
Note:
Employees with editing rights for the Compensation area can view salary information for all eligible employees.
Cycle Manager
A Cycle Manager can oversee and manage compensation cycles within the organization. This role is granted to individuals with manage permissions for their cycles. A Cycle Manager can:
- Edit salary proposals for the designated cycle
- Add, edit, and delete notes for the designated cycle
- Archive the designated cycle
- View generated rewards letters in designated cycles if view rights to the relevant document category are given.
- Edit the effective date for an entire cycle or individual employees via the Worksheet or People list.
Cycle Managers receive immediate notifications upon being granted the Cycle Manager role for a specific compensation cycle.
Cycle Viewer
A Cycle Viewer can view compensation cycles within the organization. This role is designed for individuals who need visibility into compensation cycles without requiring edit permissions. A Cycle Viewer can:
- View all eligible employees included in the designated cycle
- Navigate through compensation data in the designated cycle
- Gain insights into compensation processes without the ability to make changes or modifications for a given cycle
- View generated rewards letters in designated cycles if view rights to the relevant document category are given.
Cycle Viewers receive immediate notifications upon being granted the Cycle Viewer role for a specific compensation cycle

Grant the Cycle manager the compensation cycle permissions
To grant an employee the access right to manage a compensation cycle, follow these steps:
- Go to the Compensation review cycles page. Click the three dots and select Manage access.
- In the Manage access window select the name of the employee and then select Cycle Manager. Click Add > Update access.
You can view the new roles under the Cycle access column of the Compensation review cycles page.
Grant the Cycle viewer the compensation cycle permissions
To grant an employee the access right to manage a compensation cycle, follow these steps:
- Go to the Compensation review cycles page. Click the three dots and select Manage access.
- In the Manage access window, select the name of the employee and then select Cycle Viewer. Click Add> Update access.
You can view the new roles under the Cycle access column of the Compensation review cycles page.
Revoke permissions
To revoke the access as a cycle manager or cycle viewer of an employee, follow these steps:
- Go to the Compensation review cycles page. Click the three dots and select Manage access.
- Scroll down to the employee whose access needs to be revoked. Click the drop-down next to their name and select Revoke access. Click Update access.
