How to upgrade your plan
You can upgrade your plan yourself within Personio at any time, regardless of your method of payment. To do so, navigate to Settings > Subscription & Billing > Subscription. For further information, read our article on how to manage your Personio plan.
Note
Only Administrators and Contract Owners can perform an upgrade. If you have one or both rights but cannot upgrade your plan, contact us through Help & Feedback.
How are upgrades billed
The selected upgrade will apply from the time you make this change, and your credit card will be debited to the nearest hour for the respective surcharge. The upgrade consists of two components:
- Prorated calculation of the new plan to the next billing period
- Prorated credit for the invoice already paid
The image below illustrates the calculation of the upgrade charge for a monthly billing cycle. In the example shown, the billing date is the 28th of each month. The upgrade date is January 8.
Upgrade invoice
The example invoice below shows the prorated charges for a new plan for the period from May 27 to June 13.
The new employee plan was adjusted to 100. The selected apps (Recruiting Option Large, Performance and Development, DATEV and Conversations) were also recalculated at the same time the number of employees was increased.
You will find all components of your updated Personio plan listed in the prorated invoice. The invoice is automatically sent to the email address stored in Personio.
Upgrade credit
Since payment for the period from May 13 to June 13 had already been made, a credit for the period from May 27 to June 13 was issued at the same time to ensure that this period was not charged twice.
Credit notes are shown in Settings > Subscription & Billing > Invoices. Please note that credit notes are not emailed automatically.
When are upgrades billed
Upgrades are billed as follows:

For yearly subscriptions: On the first day of next calendar month.

For monthly subscriptions: With the next monthly subscription payment.
