We are updating our Help Center articles to reflect changes to Personio that improve the user experience. As these changes will be released gradually, you may notice differences between the article content and your Personio application during this update process.
This article explains how you can independently upgrade the size of your Personio plan, without needing to contact our Growth team. You will learn how to add employee licenses, upgrade your recruiting option, and optimize your plan with add-ons.

Add employee licenses to your plan
As your company grows, you will need to increase the number of employee licenses in Personio. You can use the self-upgrade functionality to easily add employee licenses to your plan.
Follow these steps to add employee licenses:
- Go to Settings > Support > Plan & Billing > Subscription.
- Under Set the size of your company, use the drop-down menu to select the employee number range that you would like to upgrade to.
- Navigate to the Summary box on the right. Here you will see the updated number range, your new cost, and the cost difference.
- Click on Continue to payment.
- You will be brought to the Review page. Here you can review the summary of the changes you are making, when the changes will take effect, and your billing information and payment details.
- Click on Change subscription.
Note
The changes will take effect immediately after confirmation. Your billing price will be updated instantly, and your additional cost will be prorated based on your billing cycle. If you already have a discount, it will remain in place. You can read our article on how to perform an upgrade for more information.
Upgrade your package
Throughout your journey with Personio, you might also want to upgrade your plan and benefit from our extended functionalities. You can see which features are included in our packages underneath the different options. You can also read our article on Personio subscriptions for more details.
Follow these steps to upgrade your package:
- Go to Settings > Support > Plan & Billing > Subscription.
- Under Choose the plan that fits your needs, select the option that best suits you. You can click on Compare each package features to see the list of functionalities for each package.
- Navigate to the Summary box on the right. Here you will see the upgraded package, your new cost, and the cost difference.
- Click on Continue to payment.
- You will be brought to the Review page. Here you can review the summary of the changes you are making, when the changes will take effect, and your billing information and payment details.
- Click on Change subscription.

The changes will take effect immediately after confirmation. Your billing price will be updated instantly, and your additional cost will be prorated based on your billing cycle. Upgrade your recruiting option
If you already have a recruiting option as part of your Personio plan, you can upgrade to a larger option. Recruiting options determine the number of job postings that you can publish. The size of recruiting option you choose will depend on the needs of your company.
Follow these steps to upgrade your recruiting option:
- Go to Settings > Support > Plan & Billing > Subscription.
- Navigate to Add Recruiting to your package.
- Select the option that you would like to upgrade to.
- Navigate to the Summary box on the right. Under Add-ons, you will see the recruiting product that you have chosen, your new cost, and the cost difference.
- Click on Continue to payment.
- You will be brought to the Review page. Here you can review the summary of the changes you are making, when the changes will take effect, and your billing information and payment details.
- Click on Change subscription.

Optimize your plan with add-ons
Enhance your Personio plan with additional options. You can choose between Productivity Plus, Customization Plus, and Automation Plus, and can combine different add-ons depending on your own specific needs. If, for example, you are already using electronic signatures as part of your Productivity Plus add-on, and you like the value it brings to your organization, you can get the unlimited signatures feature.

Follow these steps to add your add-ons:
- Go to Settings > Support > Plan & Billing > Subscription.
- Navigate to Add-on other products to supercharge your subscription.
- Select the option(s) that you would like to upgrade to.
- Navigate to the Summary box on the right to see the add-ons you have chosen, your new cost, and the cost difference.
- Click on Continue to payment.
- You will be brought to the Review page. Here you can review the summary of the changes you are making, when the changes will take effect, and your billing information and payment details.
- Click on Change subscription.
