In this article, you will learn how to integrate Howamigoing in Personio. You will get an overview of all the requirements, and instructions for installing the integration with the Personio employee data API.

With the Essential Plan, you can only use the chargeable DATEV integration. From the Professional Plan onwards, you have Recruiting API Access and can use an unlimited number of integrations of your choice. If you need Personal Data API Access, this is available with the Enterprise Plan.


What is Howamigoing?

Howamigoing is a beautifully designed employee feedback platform. It helps People Leaders enhance their feedback culture so that employees do better work, are more motivated, and stay longer. There are four products that work together to achieve this:

  • Good vibes uses public praise to boost morale and reinforce positive behavior, because when people feel unappreciated their motivation decreases and they become less engaged.
  • Ask me anything makes it safe for people to ask questions or surface concerns, because when people don’t speak up, leadership are at risk of having operational and legal blind spots.
  • Private feedback allows anyone to gather feedback at any time e.g. after a project or presentation, or for a quick pulse survey, because people don’t want to wait 6 or 12 months to know where they stand.
  • 360 feedback enables everyone to know where they stand with their team - and for you to know who’s doing a good job for whom - because without peer feedback teamwork suffers and minor things turn into major issues.


How can I set up the integration of Howamigoing and Personio?

  1. Go to the Admin page in your Howamigoing account.

  2. Click on Integrations, then click on the Personio tab. Here you will be guided through the remaining connection steps.


  3. Enter your Personio subdomain.


  4. Login to your Personio account as an Admin user and navigate to Settings > API > Credentials. To generate your Client ID and Client Secret, click on Generate new credentials. Personio will then automatically generate a file containing the Client ID and the Client Secret.

    Please note that if you use the Generate new credentials command, your existing credentials become invalid.


  5. Now enter your Client ID and Client Secret in Howamigoing.


  6. Enable the missing attributes Howamigoing requires (First name, Last name, Email, Status, Position, Supervisor, Department, Profile Picture and Team).

    To do this, go back to your Personio account and navigate to Settings > API > Access. Here you will be presented with the entire list of attributes that the API should read from. Click on the Editbutton to make changes to the selection, and to add / remove attributes as you see fit.



  7. Invite employees to Howamigoing.


  8. Click on Connect & import people and you are done!



What data will be transferred?

The following employee data will be transferred from Personio to Howamigoing upon first connecting the two accounts, and subsequently updated at midnight each night:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email
  • Position
  • Department
  • Team
  • Supervisor
  • Status
  • Profile picture

Howamigoing does not transmit data that will modify the record of an employee in Personio.

If an employee in Personio has an Onboarding status, they will not be transferred to Howamigoing. Should an employee’s status change from Active, Inactive or Leave back to Onboarding in Personio after a transfer, they will be deactivated in Howamigoing in the next automated transfer, preventing them from logging. Only Personio employees with an Active, Inactive or Leave status will be transferred to Howamigoing, and only those with a valid email address.


What are the costs?

Personio customers will receive a 20% discount on Howamigoing’s advertized pricing.  Depending on which Howamigoing package is chosen, this will cost between €3 to €7 per employee per month.

There is no charge to use Howamigoing for teams of nine or less.
