This article explains how to delete employees in Personio.
There are three different ways that you can do this:

Delete employees via the Employee List
This action cannot be reversed, and their data cannot be restored. -
Delete employees via the employee's profile
This action cannot be reversed, and their data cannot be restored. -
Terminate the employment
Follow these steps if you are unsure about permanently deleting the employee and all of their data.
Delete employees via the Employee list
To delete employees in the Employee list, follow these steps:
- Go to the Employee list.
- Use the checkboxes to select one or more employees that you want to delete.
- Click Actions and select Delete profile(s).
- Click Delete to confirm the process.
Note
Only administrators can see the Delete profile(s) option that is located within the Actions button.
Delete employees via the employee's profile
To delete employees in the employee's profile, follow these steps:
- Go to the employee's profile.
- Click the Action button with the three dots at the top right and select Delete profile.
- Click Delete to confirm the process.
Note
Only administrators can use the Delete profile option. Employees cannot delete their own profiles.
Terminate the employment
If you're unsure about permanently deleting an employee and their data, you can terminate their employment and set their status to Inactive.
Inactive employees lose access to Personio and aren't included in your subscription plan, but they can still be part of historical analyses.
Note
To see the Terminate employment option, employees need to be granted edit rights for the section where the Status attribute was allocated (Personal data, HR information...) through Settings > People > Employee Roles > Access rights.
