This article focuses on workflows. You can start to create and monitor all your workflows from the Workflow Hub.
This article describes how to create approval workflows for absences, attendances and changes to employee data.
What Are Approval Workflows?
Approval workflows enable you to set up a process for approvals for your company in Personio. Employees can request absences, attendances and changes in employee data depending on their access rights and according to the workflows you create. Whereas default approval workflows set the standard for all employees in your company, you can also create special rulesets either for individuals or groups of employees. The granular configuration options allow you to choose one or several approvers and set up to six approval steps. The Approval widget in the Workflow Hub and on the Dashboard helps you keep track of ongoing workflows.
Default Approval Workflows For All Employees
A default approval workflow for absence requests, attendances, and changes in employee data, sets the standard for all employees in your company who are not exempted by the application of a special ruleset.
You can create a hierarchy of up to six approval steps within an approval workflow. The steps must be completed in sequence and need to be approved by each level in the hierarchy before they are passed on to the next level.
If you would like several employees to approve a request, use the option Employee with role, which you can assign to the relevant employees.

Approval Workflows With Special Rulesets
In some cases, it is necessary to exempt certain employees from a default approval workflow and set up a different process, either for individuals or groups of employees. You can set this up by creating a special ruleset for employees defined by an employee filter.
If you haven't yet created employee filters, you need to first add the relevant filters that are required to apply your company's processes. You can apply several rules per filter so that only employees who meet all the qualifications are chosen.
To add a special ruleset, choose an employee filter and add up to six approval steps in hierarchical order. The steps must be completed in sequence and need to be approved by each level in the hierarchy before they are passed on to the next level.

For all employees who do not meet the defined criteria, the standard approval process is automatically applied.
