The Overview tab of the Analytics area provides a snapshot of key company information using graphics and diagrams in widgets. You can gain insight into your organization’s key trends and KPIs at a glance.
Try our new Metrics tab by opting in with the toggle switch. Learn more below.
The Overview tab
The Overview tab has four main widgets by default. These widgets display data using graphics and diagrams, so you can find key info at a glance.
Widgets source data from Report Builder templates that the system runs automatically.
To access the source report a widget uses, click the three dots icon on each widget.
It's not currently possible to edit widgets on the Overview tab or their source reports. If you access a report and make edits to it, it saves as a new report in the Reports tab.
Tip
Future updates will allow more customization options for the widgets in the Overview tab.
Full-Time-Equivalent (FTE) over the previous 6 months
The Full-Time-Equivalent (FTE) over the previous 6 months widget feeds from the FTE template.
This widget displays your team's capacity and productivity over the last 6 months.

Headcount over the previous 6 months
The Headcount over the previous 6 months widget feeds from the Headcount template.
This widget displays your company's growth over the last 6 months and includes only internal employees. Employees on leave and onboarding or inactive employees are excluded by default.
To review headcount including external employees or employees on leave, create a report and adjust default filters accordingly.
For employees to see the Headcount over the previous 6 months widget, you need to grant them access rights to the Status and Hire date attributes.
Headcount by department
The Headcount by department widget feeds from the Headcount template.
It shows the number of employees per department in the company and the number of employees not assigned to a department.
The widget includes only internal employees with an Active status. To review the department distribution in a different filter, customize and save a new report.

Headcount by gender
The Headcount by gender widget feeds from the Headcount template.
It visualizes gender diversity in your company in a donut chart. Diversity ratio shows comparison between the number of male employees and the number of female employees.
The widget includes only internal employees with an Active status. To review gender distribution in a different filter, customize and save a new report.
For employees to see the Headcount over the previous 6 months widget, you need to grant them access rights to the following attributes: Status, Hire date and Gender.
The Metrics tab (NEW)
Switch on the toggle in the Analytics area to try out the new Metrics tab, which will eventually replace the Overview tab.
This tab currently includes five sections, each with different widgets.
The new widgets:
- show data from reports that the system automatically generates and runs, so you'll see these widgets even before you've created any reports yourself.
- let you access the source report by clicking on the widgets (View underlying data).
- use various attributes to segment data, enabling you to quickly find the most relevant information.
Customize a section
You can customize each section to decide which widgets your employees see in the Metrics tab and the order they show up.
To customize a section, click Edit at the top. You can hide certain widgets or add your own custom widgets to each section. Choose between creating a widget from scratch or using a pre-built template as a starting point. You can set the default filters and date range for each widget. You can also drag and drop to reorder widgets.
Employees aren't able to customize the sections themselves, but they can change the filter, segmentation, and time range of the charts they see.
Give employees access to sections and widgets
For your employees to see the Analytics area and Metrics tab, you need to grant them edit access to Configuration > Reports.
However, granting them access to the tab is not enough. You also need to grant access to the relevant employee attribute data:
Widget | Section where these attributes were placed (Personal data) | Additional section |
Headcount | Status, Hire date | — |
FTE | Status, Hire date, Weekly hours | — |
Gender distribution | Status, Gender | — |
Tenure distribution | Status, Hire date | — |
Employee turnover rate | Status, Termination date, Hire date | — |
