Create a time off type
To find out how to create time off types, follow the steps described here. Personio Payroll requires specific entries for certain points. Follow the specifications described below for the relevant section.
General settings
Settings | Description and note |
Category | Select the appropriate category for the time off. Ideally, create a separate time off type for each category. Personio assigns time off codes for each category, which trigger additional questions in the time off request. |
Time unit | Choose the Days option to have the entitlement and balances displayed in days. |
Half-day requests |
Half days are currently only possible for the categories Paid vacation or Remote work. |

Create and assign accrual policies
Accrual policies specify how many times employees can take a particular time off type. Follow the steps described here to create accrual policies and assign them to your employees.
