In the recruiting section, you have the option of creating additional candidate attributes (custom attributes), as well as managing the predefined ones (system attributes).
You can also use recruiting roles to grant employees access to specific sections only, and thus to candidate attributes. With this, you can actively involve your employees in the application process without giving any insight into wage expectations or other sensitive candidate data.
Creating Custom Candidate Attributes
Go to Settings > Recruiting > Attributes and select either Candidate profile or HR information from the left sidebar. Use the HR information section to make sure sensitive data is not visible to employees via their recruiting roles. To find out how to create and edit recruiting roles, please click here.
Click on Add new attribute to create any number of custom candidate attributes, such as a LinkedIn profile attribute. You can select among different types of candidate attributes, such as date or list of options.
You can also translate the attribute name into seven languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese). This means that the employees participating in the recruiting process (Recruiting > Application > Candidate) will now see the candidate profile in the same language they have set in their Personio account, and also that the candidate will now see the application form in the same language they are browsing in. In case of a missing translation, the candidate attribute will show in the default language.
Custom candidate attributes can be moved freely between the Candidate profile and HR information sections by using the drag & drop function. Simply drag a custom attribute and drop it over the name of the section on the left sidebar.
When changing the attribute type (e.g. from text to list of options) for an existing attribute, the values currently showing on the candidate profiles for that attribute will not be automatically updated. You will need to edit them directly on the candidate profiles in order to change the values.
Managing System Candidate Attributes
The system candidate attributes come by default in Personio. The information within these attributes is automatically transferred to the employee profile when the candidate is "accepted". The system candidate attributes are:
- Name
- Phone
- City
- Birthday
- Channel
- Gender
- Application date
- Available from
- Expected Salary
System attributes are translated automatically to other languages, so you do not need to enter a translation manually.
System attributes can also be moved freely between the Candidate profile and HR information sections by using the drag & drop function. Simply drag a system attribute and drop it over the name of the section on the left sidebar.
Keep in mind that any changes made in both custom and system candidate attributes have an effect on the candidate profile, but also on the candidate application form available through the career page (if activated). To find out how to add candidate attributes to the career page, please click here.
